Inspired by The Hip Hop Declaration of Peace in 2001, and completed at UPEACE in 2009, in 2023, Hip Hop and the Art of Peace Education is launching a 3rd edition in honor of Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary. With the aims of reaching at-risk youth, and introducing peace education to the general population, Hip Hop and the Art of Peace Education is the very 1st text on the interconnectedness of peace education and hip hop culture. Based on lived experience, primary research and interviews, the text outlines various ways, that hip hop may facilitate peace education, in classrooms, communities, peace and post conflict zones. Earth is now seeking sponsors, to support a fully funded program. Order onsite now!

The document opens with the preface, introduction, acknowledgements, terminology, and literature review, then goes on to explore six petals of peace education, in the context of 5+ core subjects and hip hop culture. In closing, it offers a final conclusion, and continuing project outline, to put the theory into practice, i.e., music projects, media, and events. The six petals of peace education are: personal peace, environmental care, attitudes and values education, multi-cultural education, human rights education (HRE), and disarmament education.
